Empowering Women, Transforming Futures: The #HireHer Campaign

#HireHer Campaign

Here’s a message from our Founder and CEO, Dr. Topeka K. Sam, announcing the #HireHer Campaign. This initiative celebrates 100 extraordinary women who have completed our Pathways for Equity Fellowship Program. Each of these women has faced significant challenges but has demonstrated remarkable resilience, determination, and a commitment to personal and professional growth.

Through this campaign, we’re showcasing their skills, expertise, and readiness to thrive in the workforce. We invite employers to take action by offering these women the second chances they’ve earned, transforming lives, and fostering a future where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. Together, we can turn the promise of second chances into real, lasting change.

#HireHer P4E Fellow Spotlight

Meet Millicent Traylor

We’re excited to introduce you to Millicent Traylor, an inspiring member of our Pathways 4 Equity (P4E) career-ready fellowship, and an incredible example of why second-chance hiring is a life changer. Millicent’s journey is one of resilience, growth, and the undeniable power of opportunity.

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Millicent is a physician with a strong foundation in medicine, but now she’s taking her talents to the tech world—equipped with transferable skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. Millicent has not only rebuilt her digital skills but has gone above and beyond by joining programs like Justice Through Code to further her education and growth.

Millicent’s path wasn’t easy. Her story began with a powerful moment when she first heard Dr. Topeka K. Sam speak while incarcerated. Inspired by Dr. Sam's story, Millicent took a leap and applied to the P4E program. “It has improved my confidence,” Millicent shared. “It helped me realize that the stigma of incarceration can be overcome.”

#HireHer

In her own words

Millicent’s definition of a second chance? “A true opportunity, a real-world opportunity, a job with a livable wage.” And that’s exactly what she’s working toward—a chance to prove that her skills, dedication, and experience are exactly what any employer needs.

Her message to employers? “You’re missing out on a huge amount of talent. These women are ready to work and resilient, and they have so much to offer. Give us a chance, and you’ll find some of the best employees you’ll ever have.

Millicent is a reminder that second chances are more than just a fresh start—they’re an opportunity to tap into incredible talent, strength, and drive. “Even though I’ve been through what I’ve been through, I’m still able to offer my skills, my dedication, and my commitment,” she says with pride.
